Finally, my first new story of the year is done. Well, the first draft, at any rate. There's tweaking and revising to be completed. At 7.3K words it's quite a bit longer than I was intending, so there'll probably be some good word-killing too. But I feel like I can breathe a little again now. I'll need that oxygen, too, as I set about trying to sniff out the story's weak spots and make them disappear over the next few days.
